Coláiste Daibhéid san Eolaí Óg

D’éirigh le foireann ó Choláiste Daibhéid an babhta deireanach den Eolaí Óg a shroichint san RDS i mBaile Átha Cliath i mbliana. Chaith Cormac Towe, Niamh Nic Ruairí agus Dearbhla Nic Risteáird, daltaí Idirbhliana, ceithre lá in Áth Cliath (11ú-14ú Eanáir) ag glacadh páirte sa chómortas ar son na scoile. ‘Scrúdú Stáit nó Scrúdú Intinne’ ab ea teideal an tionscnaimh a bhí idir láimhe acu. Dheineadair anailís ar an strus a bhíonn ag daltaí agus iad i mbun Scrúdaithe Stáit, ábhar atá fíor-thábhachtach in Éirinn sa lá atá inniu ann. D’éirigh go hiontach leo agus cuireadh faoi agallamh iad do Nuacht RTÉ agus TG4 (Féach ar an bhfíseán thíos). Dhein ár ndaltaí sár-jab in Áth Cliath agus táimid an-bhródúil astu ‘s a gcuid iarrachtaí. Tá modúil eolaíochta dírithe ar an Eolaí Óg ach go háirithe mar chuid de churaclam na hIdirbhliana againn agus táimid fíorbhuíoch do Mháistir Ó Finn as ucht a chuid oibre leis na daltaí, agus ar a son, le linn an phróiséis ar fad. Éacht mór do Choláiste Daibhéid is ea é. Comhghairdeachas libh go leir!

Our team of Young Scientists reached the final stages of the competition in the RDS in Dublin this year. Transition Year Students, Cormac Towe, Niamh Nic Ruairí and Dearbhla Nic Risteáird spent four days in Dublin (11-14 January) representing Coláiste Daibhéid in the competition. Their entry was entitled ‘Scrúdú Stáit nó Scrúdú Intinne’ in which they analysed the impact of the State Examinations on student stress, a very important subject matter in modern Ireland. The project was very well received and they were interviewed for Nuacht RTÉ and TG4 (see the video below). Our students did an excellent job in Dublin and we are very proud of them and their efforts. A science module with emphasis on the Young Scientist Competition forms part of our Transition Year Curriculum and we are very grateful to Máistir Ó Finn for his work both with, and on behalf of, our students. This was a great achievement for Coláiste Daibhéid. Congratualtions to you all!
