Lá an Fhorógra 2016

Lá an Fhorógra 2016

Bhí lá lán de chomóradh againn ar an 15ú Márta do Lá an Fhorógra 2016. Tionóladh an pobal na scoile ar fad ag Halla na Cathrach agus chuir an tArd-Mhéara, Cllr. Chris Ó Laoire fáilte romhainn. Labhair an Príomhoide linn ar fad agus cuireadh fáilte roimh ár n-aoi speisialta, Tadhg Mac Eoin, Príomhoifigeach Bhord Oideachais agus Oiliúna Chorcaí.

Bhí cainteoirí againn a thug oráidí ionsparáideacha dúinn ar an lá i gcuimhe na hócáide a bhí i gceist: Príomhoide na Scoile, Tadhg Ó Laighin; Cathaoirleach an Bhord Bainistíochta, Máire Bn. Uí Bhriain, Tadhg Mac Eoin agus Príomhoide Tánaisteach na Scoile, Pól Ó Síodhcháin.

Sa iarnóin cuireadh an dráma nua-scríte ag Alan Titley, ‘An Filleadh’ ar stáite Halla an Pharóiste Theas agus cuireadh críoch le imeachtaí an lae le céilí sa halla. Bhí áthas an domhain orainn a bheith sna meáin náisiúnta an tráthnóna sin le ceamaraí ó UTV, TV3, RTÉ agus TG4 i láthair linn. Féach thíos ar roinnt grianghrafanna agus físeán an lae, chomh maith le físeán na tuairisce TV3.

We had a big day of commemoration on the 15th of March as part of Proclamation Day 2016. THe school community assembled at City Hall where we were received by the Lord Mayor, Cllr. Chris O’Leary. The Principal spoke to us about the occasion and welcomed our guest, Mr. Ted Owens, Chief Executive of Cork Education and Training Board.

We paraded back to the school through the streets of Cork behind a Piper, the National Flag, the Flag of the Irish Republic and the School Flag. Those flags were then raised at the school by Diarmuid Ó Luasa, the first Principal of Coláiste Daibhéid, Ted Owens and Michaela de hÍde (on behalf of the Student Council). We had a number of inspiring speeches on the day in honour of the occasion that was: School Principal, Tadhg Ó Laighin; Chairperson of the Board of Management, Máire Bn. Uí Bhriain; Ted Owens and School Deputy Principal, Pól Ó Síodhcháin.

In the afternoon, Alan Titley’s newly-penned drama, ‘An Filleadh’, was staged by our students in the South Parish Hall. The day’s events concluded with a céilí in the hall. We were delighted to feature in all national news bulletins that evening, having been joined during the day by news crews from UTV, TV3, RTÉ and TG4. Please browse the photos and video of the day below as well as a video of the TV3 news report.
